Happy Retirement Linda and Liz!

My husbands mother is retiring after 40+ years in nursing. She spent the last portion of that as a school nurse in Schenectady, NY. Last weekend we went to a party for her and another wonderful teacher, Liz, who was retiring as well. The party was at Mallozzi's which was a beautiful venue.

I pulled together this cake trying to represent nursing and Liz's focus, reading.

Golf cake...that's a terrible lie

One of my husbands best friends had a surprise party for his 30th birthday at Golf Quest here in Southington, CT. Excellent venue if you are looking to throw a party for the golfer in your life.

I was very happy to have the opportunity to make this golf cake for the party...I would hate to look down at my ball and see that lie!

Curling = My Husband's favorite sport every 4 years

Every 4 years when the winter olympics roll around my husband is mezmorized by a sport. You might think it would be hockey as he is a huge fan but it is actually curling. Men's or Women's, US or any other country really, he is riveted to the screen as the rocks are "curled" down the ice preceded by the sweepers...sweeping.

So one of my good friend's father was retiring and he is a member of the only curling club we have in Connecticut...so I told him it HAD to be a curling cake.
